Tour: 16 September, 2016 @ 3pm - TechShop

About the Company

TechShop is a 'maker space'. Similar to an IT tech hub, it provides classes, tools and facilities to entrepreneurs to manufacture new products. Here is how TechShop describes some of their manufacturing sevices:

"Since its opening in 2006, TechShop has been at the center of entrepreneurship and innovation. TechShop is a place where people build their dreams. Making is a core component of its mission and values.

Fujitsu has been dedicated to the art and science of making (“monozukuri” in Japanese) since its founding in 1935. Over the past 80 years, Fujitsu has become the leading Japanese information and communication technology (ICT) company with world-class design and manufacturing capabilities as well as state-of-the-art factories in Japan, Europe, and the US.

Now TechShop and Fujitsu are joining forces to democratize access to world-class design and manufacturing services. The goal: for every maker to have even more opportunities to build their dreams.

This means that once you have your “big idea,” TechShop and Fujitsu can help you design, prototype, manufacture, and scale your product."

The tour will take place at 3pm on Friday the 16th of September.  The tour will be conducted by Edmond Soun, a TechShop staff member. He will take the students for a tour of the company, and then for a question and answer session. The tour will conclude at about 4.00pm.

TechShop is located at 926 Howard Street in San Francisco. This location is accessible on public transport, with the trip taking about 35 minutes from LSI Berkley. Click here to see travel instructions.

The host company is expecting a small group of up to 6 students, as well as an instructor/guide from LSI. No ID is explicitly required, however we advise students to bring at least 1 piece of photo ID.
